Chipper Jones suffered a slight muscle pull in Friday’s loss to the Brewers. If he is unable to play Saturday night Bobby Cox might get the opportunity to drop new starting short stop Alex Gonzalez to third in the order.
Gonzalez is 2-for-6 since coming over from the Blue Jays and has a .260 average with 17 HR and 50 RBI for the season.
Cox has been stubborn about moving Chipper out of his spot, but the future Hall-of-Famer is batting .250 with 7 HR and 34 RBI in 74 games. The mutual respect between manager and player will keep Jones hitting third until he tells Cox to move him in the order.
If Jones is unable to go tonight one possible order is:
1 – M. Prado – 2B
2 – J. Heyward – RF
3 – A. Gonzalez – SS
4 – B. McCann – C
5 – T. Glaus – 1B
6 – M. Cabrera – CF
7 – O. Infante- 3B
8- M. Diaz - RF
9 – T. Hudson – P
Now that is a line up. Five All-Stars (in bold) swatting away should put some runs on the board. What is your opinion?
I vote for Infante 2, Heyward 3. Leave new guy at 6.
ReplyDeleteDon't second guess Bobby. Chipper is clutch and should hit 3rd as long as those 2 Cox/Chipper are around.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Brooks Conrad?
ReplyDeleteNice call Kyle. Conrad got the start at third base, but please note who is hitting third.
ReplyDeleteNice. You know the Braves - 1st Escobar trade, then Gonzalez hitting 3. I thought BC would make him earn it from 6 whole like he did Heyward.
